A very rustic wedding at Whiston Manorial Barn
One of my favourite weddings from last year was that of Kirsty and Liam at Whiston Manorial Barn…
Kirsty and Liam booked way back in early 2017 for their wedding in late 2018. I knew from the word go that they were my ideal customer and a couple on the same wave length as me.
Their wedding was held at the Whiston Manorial Barn in Rotherham. A fabulous old barn with thatched roof and wodden beams. I had never shot here before so made a couple of trip in the weeks running upto the wedding at different times of day to see what would greet me lighting wise. Im glad I made the effort befor the big day as on the day its self the conditions inside were quite dark, lit only by candles and fairy lights. Luckily I use some pretty serious lenses that go all the way down to F1.2 which in Layman’s term means i can pretty much take pictures in the dark!
The day started off with me splitting my time between Bride and grooms parents house, which luckily for me where only about 2 miles away. I started off my morning with the bride and her bridesmaids. Grabbing all the little shot of them getting ready and the nervous anticipation so common at weddings.
I then travelled to see the groom and his grooms men for an emotional half an hour. Kirsty had bought Liam a wonderful present and written him a heart felt letter which reduced him to tears. Thats right people, “Real men do cry”.
From here I traveled back to the brides house to get the last few shots i need of the preparations before hopping into my car and travelling to Whiston, all before the bride arrives! Im greeted with a party of people smiling, laughing and joking whilst waiting for the bride to arrive.
The bride arrived in a classic VW camper along with her bridesmaids around 1.30. Soon after it was time to say “i-do”. I was then given some time to spend with the bride and groom alone to capture some images of them both together. For most weddings I like to limit this to 20 minutes so the bride and groom can get back to enjoying their day and I can fit back into capturing natural candid shots.
For me the wedding finished just after first dance. I absolutely love Whiston Manorial barn at first dance time, I just think it makes for some really atmospheric shots within the old barn. This lot knew how to party so I stayed behind a little longer to capture some shots of people enjoying the night.
All in all a great day filled with great people. Definitely one of my favourite from 2018!
